Senior UI Programmer

About the Role

Epic Games is seeking a Senior UI Programmer to join a new and growing team focused on building innovative experiences and technology. This role involves playing a critical part in a small, focused team, responsible for core UI features and supporting collaborative development across programmers, designers, and artists.

What You'll Do

• Envision, plan, refactor, and implement new features such as HUD widgets, markers, minimap, mission flow, activity feed, and conversation/interaction menus.
• Write robust, maintainable code with a focus on modularization and future scalability.
• Optimize and fix bugs in both new and legacy systems.
• Integrate backend systems to enhance the player experience.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on cutting-edge features for games and potentially the Fortnite ecosystem.
• Work closely with backend developers, art, and design leads to ensure UI meets aesthetic and functional requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Exceptional C++ programming skills.
• Experience developing features for games across multiple platforms.
• Significant experience with online multiplayer games or interactive real-time technology applications with a strong online component.
• Interest in social, frontend, and gameplay-adjacent areas of game development.
• Ability to empathize with users and balance tradeoffs for great user experiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities.
• Unreal Engine development experience is preferred.
