Summary

Apple Vision Pro is a revolutionary spatial computer that seamlessly blends digital content with your physical space. The Vision Products Group (VPG) is seeking a Realtime Rendering and Graphics Software Engineer to architect and build state-of-the-art 3D graphics experiences for our platform.

As a core member of the RealityKit rendering team, you will shape the future of real-time 3D graphics on Vision Pro and all Apple platforms. You will play a significant role in inventing next-generation rendering techniques, pushing visual quality to its limits, and opening new possibilities for immersive experiences across the Apple ecosystem.

Description

You will develop innovative rendering techniques to push the boundaries of visual quality and performance on the Apple Vision Pro and supported platforms. The team collaborates across Apple, working with hardware teams, low-level graphics API teams, design and technical art teams. Our primary responsibilities are delivering high quality, high performance, real-time graphics features for developers to use throughout the Apple ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement state-of-the-art graphics features and APIs to enable magical immersive experiences
  • Identify and optimize bottlenecks in the rendering stack while ensuring consistent performance within thermal and power constraints
  • Build comprehensive test suites in collaboration with quality assurance and engineering teams
  • Participate in peer review of architecture, API, and individual software changes
  • Collaborate with technical art and human interface design teams across Apple

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and knowledge of 3D real-time rendering applications
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in writing safe, performant C++ code
  • Knowledge of the graphics pipeline, modern rendering techniques, and image processing
  • Experience with at least one modern graphics API (Metal, Vulkan, Direct3D 12, WebGPU) and shading languages (MSL, HLSL, GLSL, WGSL)
  • Ability to solve problems in 3D geometry using linear algebra

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Experience developing modern rendering pipelines in 3D engines
  • Familiarity with AR/VR rendering technologies

Pay range: $132,100 – $199,000 (Boulder, CO). Apple accepts applications on an ongoing basis.
