What You'll Do

  • Work closely with UX Designers, UI Artists, and UI Programmers to implement UI systems and features.
  • Shape the direction, raise the bar for the discipline, improve workflows, and mentor others.
  • Break down features or wireframes into clear, scoped tasks, identifying unknowns and dependencies early.
  • Prototype and prove out new UI techniques, pushing the limits of UMG.
  • Design robust, reusable component systems that remain flexible.
  • Implement data-driven UI through ViewModels and view bindings.
  • Build for every player, accounting for screen sizes, safe areas, localization, and accessibility.
  • Design within performance and memory budgets, profiling UMG, Slate, C++, and texture memory.
  • Collaborate closely with UX, UI Art, and Programming, improving workflows, pipelines, and documentation.

What We're Looking For

  • Project expert in technical UI implementation, having shipped UI in game engines across PC, console, and mobile.
  • Hands-on Unreal and UMG experience, or strong experience in another game engine with an appetite to learn Unreal.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity, quickly picking up new and sparsely documented toolsets and technologies.
  • Proven experience with data-driven UI (MVVM, ViewModels) and strong component-architecture instincts.
  • Strong visual eye and working knowledge of UX and UI, layout, composition, hierarchy, and interaction patterns.
  • Strong feel for controller-first navigation and building UI for various input methods and platforms.
  • Design with performance and runtime cost in mind, comfortable with profiling and working to a budget.
  • Craft in UI materials and motion, or the adjacent skill and appetite to grow it quickly.
  • Ability to translate fluidly across UX, UI Art, Programming, production, and leadership, documenting work for distributed teams.
  • Solid programming fundamentals, object-oriented design, data structures, game systems, and relevant math skills.
